Melody had seen an interesting advertisement from a Hoenn Tourism company. A challenge! They had offered her some air time on tv with another randomly selected trainer to survive on an island for a week! A week huh? That seemed like a pretty long time but honestly Melody needed to get her mind off of sootopolis for a bit and the chaos that was going there. [break][break]

It seemed like her presence in the city only made things worse. [break][break]

So she signed herself up and even made a deal with the company to record snips and bits of her adventure for tv. She wondered if it was the best idea but honestly anything to get out of Sootopolis right now. Melody had considered bringing cobalion..but after everything that had happen recently she decided to give him a break for now since he's been put through a lot. Plus this gave her a chance to train some of her other Pokémon instead. [break][break]

She arrived to the island with a big floppy sun hat, a loose white shirt that hung off her shoulder and a jean shorts. She immediately then grabbed her sides as the breeze came by and made her cold. It wasn't summer anymore, she forgot. She quickly released her volcarona who let loose some of it's scales to keep Melody warm despite the strong breezes. She looked around for her warm pumpkin spice coffee and realized she left it on the boat "Fuck" she muttered to herself as she scrolled through her phone wondering if they could swing back and give it to her.

Was Izzy really this desperate for money?[break][break]

Uh... yeah. Yeah, he was.[break][break]

The advertisement hadn't struck him with too much interest until he'd seen the whole you win money at the end btw part, at which point he'd decided to put in for it mostly on a stupid whim. Except, now he was here - sand, sea, palm trees, terrifying beasts that lurked in the shadows between the trees, the whole shebang.[break][break]

And even worse, more terrifying than anything else - there was a pretty girl with him. A pretty girl who he'd actually heard of, to add to that! She was basically a celebrity - the gym leader who'd been kidnapped during the whole Sootopolis debacle, not to mention the fact that she did that video stuff too. Fuck. This was worse than literally anything else he could have encountered on the island. How was he supposed to make conversation with someone like her?![break][break]

He awkwardly ran his hand over the shiny surface of the Pokeball he was keeping Lepki in - and knew that Myszko was at home positively dying at the fact that Izzy hadn't chosen to take him. But, they were on a fucking island in the middle of bumfuck nowhere - the last thing he needed to have to worry about was a little asshole who'd eat all the shit they found before Izzy had a chance to.[break][break]

The breeze didn't come as a big surprise to Izzy, who was well aware that seasons changed just like everywhere else in the world, so he pulled his coat a little closer around him.[break][break]

"So, uh... you..." He started, and then stopped. "Whattaya wanna do... like, first? A house... I mean- like a shelter, or beds, or whatever? Since that's... for sleeping."[break][break]

Izzy really wanted to just kind of jump into the ocean and drown. Just a little bit.

Melody smiled at Izzy and waved to him "Hi, I'm melody." she said extending her hand to him cheerfully as she was many things, but shy was not one of them. [break][break]

He was a bit shy it seemed, completely skipping to introducing himself but Melody wasn't gonna push it just yet. "A shelter huh? Do you know anything about building cause uhhh...I dont really have survival skills...if any at all." she said kind of scratching the back of her head as she realized how much she was going to need her pokemon's help to do this stuff. [break][break]

"I can handle a fire thanks to volcarona here and uh..." she said scrambling in her little bag she brought and pulling out another pokeball. "Teje can help create stuff to keep us warm at night! A nice blanket of leaves!" she said cheerfully as she released a Leavanny from it's pokeball. "Ok teje! Let's get to work!" she said moving over towards the grass and helping leavanny pick some leaves to weave together. Maybe they'd make a massive blanket or hell some roof covering

Izzy had never been camping or anything like - the closest he'd gotten was sleeping outside on days he'd gotten back too late and his mum had kept the door locked. When it came to being outside and knowing about things like campfires or making shelter. He didn't have nostalgic memories of being away in the wilderness with family, so...[break][break]

...honestly, he was kind of lost.[break][break]

"Eh... not, not really. But we can probably work it out, right?"[break][break]

She'd been clever enough to bring useful pokémon with her, which Izzy had done too. "I've got Wira, ah- my Inkay. She could help maybe... lifting stuff, you know? Psychic type stuff" It'd be useful to not have to lift whatever driftwood and stuff they find themselves, after all. He let the aforementioned Inkay out of her ball, where she floated to follow Melody and her Leavanny, with Izzy coming along just after.[break][break]

"...I'm Izzy, by the way" He spoke up, realising he hadn't even introduced himself yet. "You're Melody as in Melody Miro, right?" What with Rocket and all, Izzy was used to meet rich and powerful people, but Melody was different - she was kind of like an actual celebrity.

She let her bubbly personality shine "The one and only!" she grinned "Gym leader of Sootopolis and also singer extraordinaire!" She said recalling the sad state Sootopolis was left in. [break][break]

"Dont worry though! Things will go back to normal soon! Promise!" she said scratching the back of her head as she had to take the blame for this, she allowed herself to get caught by rocket, she wanted to save rowan. Little did she know that the odds were never in her favor when it was all planned right under her nose.

Maybe it was the fact that Melody was a celebrity but also not, like, literally part of an international crime syndicate? That might have been what was so interesting about her - she wasn't also going to, like, watch him commit a Rocket-sanctioned murder or something. There was a kind of naivete about her, too, which Izzy kind of saw reflected in himself - not that he would ever admit that, of course. It presented itself, in him, as frowns as snaps, but in Melody it was all pink and bubbles and clouds. It was... refreshing.[break][break]

His Inkay wrapped her tentacle around Melody's finger as it was politely shaken by the girl, and did what could only be assumed to be an octopus-style smile.[break][break]

Izzy watched Melody for a moment after she spoke. Dangerous at the moment... Well, she wasn't exactly wrong, but Izzy didn't want to seem like he knew anything about that beyond what the rest of Hoenn did.[break]
"Yeah, but-" Before he had a chance to try and brush it under the rug, she spoke up and did it herself.[break]
"R-right, yeah... exactly. It's all gonna be... all good, and stuff. That's good" He gave an approximation of a smile - rusty and underused.[break][break]

"So, ah... you reckon we should stay on the beach, or set up camp like... in?" He gestured roughly towards the trees, indicating that by in he meant further inland.

"Beach or forest huh?" she said curiously weighing both options. Honestly Melody was by no means the smartest person in the league, hell she was probably on the lower end of the IQ spectrum available to them. She was only talent in the arts and Pokémon battles so a decision like this was kind of difficult for her to make. "Maybe the beach? If we get good cover the sun wont be a problem, Pokémon cant sneak up on us...food though.." she said as her stomach began to growl and her massive appetite began to rear it's ugly head. "Would be difficult since I don't have a fishing rod and I cant cook. What do you think?"
